BSc (Hons), Dip CBH, GQHP, GHR Reg
I’m Siobhan and I am a cognitive behavioural hypnotherapist based in East Cork. I work with clients both online and in my clinic in Midleton, Cork. Below I have shared a little about me and why I became a hypnotherapist.
I studied Psychology at the University of Manchester. I loved everything about the course and achieved a First-Class Honours degree. Although I knew I wanted to work in a role related to my degree, life took a different direction. After college I worked as a recruiter for over 10 years in the corporate world. My work involved hiring great talent within tight timelines. Because of this, I understand the pressures of a fast-paced and stressful work environment. I also understand how challenging it can be to maintain a healthy work/life balance. Although I enjoyed working in recruitment, I always knew that I wanted to help people in a more meaningful way.
One thing I observed from my career was that the key to becoming successful starts with confidence and self-belief. When you believe in yourself, you make things happen. I now love what I do because I help my clients to believe in themselves and achieve their goals.
In 2010 I quit smoking through hypnosis. This is when I became very interested in hypnotherapy and how it worked. It was a life-changing experience because I had tried everything else. Years later and I still don’t smoke. It was definitely one of the best things I ever did!
There are many different approaches to hypnotherapy. When I began training, I wanted to ensure that the techniques I use are evidence-based. Therefore, I trained with the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy which teaches an evidence-based approach to hypnotherapy. I use tools and techniques that are firmly grounded in evidence (from research studies and randomised control trials). I love what I do – I help my clients to achieve their goals and become the very best versions of themselves.
